今年2016年は、アイルランド独立のきっかけとなった1916 年の「イースター蜂起」から100周年となる節目の年で、 世界各地で様々な記念行事が開催されています。当館でも、 このアイルランドの歴史上重要な出来事を記念して、 在日アイルランド商工会議所と共に来る10月20日（木）18: 30より上智大学を会場に、歴史ドキュメンタリー映画『1916 年イースター蜂起』の上映会を開催することとなりましたので、 ご案内申し上げます。
上映会は無料で、どなたでもご参加いただけますが、 事前に参加登録が必要です。
上映終了後、 映画の内容に関連した詩の朗読と音楽の演奏も行われます。

1916 Commemorative Irish Documentary screening

“On Easter Monday 1916, a small group of Irish rebels—including poets, teachers, actors and workers—took on the might of the British Empire. Although defeated militarily, the men and women of the Easter Rising would soon win a moral victory—with their actions leading to the creation of an independent Irish state and contributing to the eventual disintegration of the British empire. They have inspired countless freedom struggles throughout the world—from Ireland to India.”

In cooperation with the Ireland-Japan Chamber of Commerce, the Notre Dame Club of Japan and Sophia University, Tokyo, the Embassy of Ireland is pleased to announce a screening of “1916 – The Irish Rebellion”, a new documentary made by Notre Dame University’s Keogh-Naughton Institute of Irish Studies.The event will be followed by music and a reading from Yeats as well as a short presentation on events held in Dublin this year.
