さて、新年早々悲しいお知らせです。

国際イェイツ協会から、Deirdre Toomey、そしてWarwick Gould両氏の訃報が届きました。

両氏のご功績を偲びつつ、心より哀悼の意を表すとともに

お二人が残された学術的貢献に深く敬意を表し、謹んでお知らせ申し上げます。

以下、国際イェイツ協会のPresidentであられるLucy Collins氏による訃報です。

I’m sure we’re all heavy-hearted to learn of the death of Warwick Gould,
so soon after the passing of his partner and fellow-Yeatsian, Deirdre
Toomey. Both were remarkable Yeats scholars whose achievements have
been formative for generations of students – from Warwick’s
extraordinary work as textual editor to Deirdre’s important writing on
the place of women in Yeats’s life and poetry, their commitment to the
study of Yeats has immeasurably strengthened our field, and formed us as
researchers and teachers. Many of us have lasting memories of being
mentored by Warwick and experiencing his many acts of professional
generosity and personal kindness.

We mourn their loss but celebrate, too, the lasting impact they have had
on Yeats studies around the world. On behalf of the executive of the
International Yeats Society, may I extend sympathy to all those who knew
Warwick and Deirdre and will feel their absence keenly. Suaimhneas
