去る1月3日、Daniel Albright氏が亡くなられました。

享年69。謹んでご冥福をお祈りいたします。

ここに会長より追悼の辞を送らせていただきます。

 

ハーバード大学教授でイェイツ研究に多大な貢献をされたダニエル・オールブライト先生の突然のご逝去の報に接し、謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。2005年の京都での第41回大会に先生をお招きし、講演“Yeats and Science”を行っていただき、またシンポジウム“Yeats, Beckett, Noh”にもパネラーとして参加していただきました。先生の深く鋭い洞察力に感銘を受けたことを憶えております。ご家族と同僚の皆様に心より哀悼の意を表します。

It is with great sorrow that we have heard the sad news of the sudden passing of Professor Daniel Albright of Harvard University, who had made so much contribution to Yeats studies.  The Yeats Society of Japan invited him to Kyoto in 2005 to give us the lecture “Yeats and Science” and to participate in the Symposium “Yeats, Beckett, Noh” at our 41^st Annual Conference.  We were all inspired by his deep and acute insight into the subjects.  We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and his collegues.
